About me
Dr. Alok Mishra is the Country Director of Westinghouse India, bringing over 36 years of global experience in the nuclear industry. Over his 16-year tenure at Westinghouse, he has successfully overseen the licensing, offer development for deployment of AP1000® reactors in India, AP300™ small modular reactors (SMRs), and Long Duration Energy Storage Systems (LDES) market development. Alok spearheads Indian supply chain development, led the AP1000 feasibility study, and played a key role in establishing the Westinghouse India Engineering Center.
He began his career in 1989 as a trainee scientific officer with India's Department of Atomic Energy, followed by 15 years at NPCIL, where he resolved critical safety issues and developed thermo-hydraulic computer codes. Globally, Alok has managed new-build plant licensing in the US, consulted for the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission and Ontario Power Generation, and worked with Russia's Kurchatov and Gidropress Institutes for Kudankulam VVER licensing.
An alumnus of IIT Bombay, Alok holds an MBA in Finance, was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Waterloo, and completed an IAEA fellowship at Argonne National Laboratory. He is a National Talent Search Scholar, an award-winning professional, and a widely published author in international journals. Alok stands at the intersection of deep tech, global engineering strategy, and the clean energy transition.
